Wellbeing

At Tumut Public School, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.

How we support student wellbeing

Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.

We do this through:

A restorative approach

A Tumut Public School, we embed a restorative approach to student behaviour, empathy and relationships. A restorative approach focuses on building, maintaining and restoring positive relationships, particularly when incidents that involve interpersonal conflict or wrongdoing occur.

Restorative practice is a whole school teaching and learning approach that encourages behaviour that is supportive and respectful. It recognises that a variety of factors influence behaviour and seeks to address the underlying influences through empathy, relationship-building, communication, social and emotional learning and finding ways to respectfully hold one another accountable.

Our student engagement plan outlines how we follow the restorative continuum to elevate student behaviour, empathy and relationships.
